Homemaker Moments

It’s Homemaker Moments Friday!!  I’m making up for last Friday when I was wedding planning and couldn’t get to a computer for almost 3 whole days…Oh the Horror!

This week’s moment is an eyeopening one for me to say the least.  I’m always burdening myself with thoughts like, “Am I doing enough with the kids so that they are learning about the things I want them to learn?”, and “I don’t think my kids are going to know enough about Jesus before they are gone from under my roof!”.

Yesterday, after talking with a friend, I was reminded that it doesn’t matter how much we prep our kids for the world, they still have to follow Jesus by their own will.  Not because I said so, not because they’ve been taught so well, and not even because they are so involved in a local church.  Those things are good, I suppose, but not the ticket to a wonderful life in Christ!

Well, I was sitting at the lunch table chatting with Titan about superheros this week (a perfectly normal occurance in our household).  He was “Iron Man” clad, from head to toe, when he asked…

Titan:  “Mom, why don’t we have any REAL superheros in the world?”

I paused for a second and decided to challenge his thinking a bit…

Me:  “We do, buddy”

Titan:  “We do?”

With a slight grin I replied…

Me:  “Yes, his name is Jesus”

Titan rolled his eyes.  “That’s not a superhero, Mom!”

Me:  “Oh yes He is.  The most powerful in fact”

I thought I’d really gotten to him…Titan was really going to learn something…I was so proud of myself for taking this minute to interject Jesus into my son’s world of superheros!

Titan:  “Mom, Jesus is not just a Superhero, He’s the Savior

(blink blink)  Okay. I’ll just shut up now.

Thanks for sharing your heart. It’s good to be reminded that I’m not in the trenches alone.
