sick as a dog

Ya know how I said I was too sick to take pictures on Sunday?  Well, it’s not getting better.  In fact, the last 24 hours has been gut wrenching.  Literally.  Sick as a dog I am.

And now it’s not just me…’lil Adi Ju has it too.  Do you know how sickening it is to change diapers when they are “sick” diapers?  Poopie ones…Eck!

Adia has pretty much been non-responsive all day long.  And me, well I’m just sick as a dog!  Oh, and speaking of dogs, we have a new family member.

Meet Liza Mae!!

She’s a 9 week old Blue Heeler/Australian Shepherd that we bought, before we moved, to bring a little bit of Texas back to Arkansas with us.  (OH YEAH, did I mention we moved last weekend?  Sick as a dog I’ve been- I can’t even remember who knows what!)  Blue Heelers are cattle dogs used on ranches in Texas to herd cows.  These dogs are all over the place down there- well, so are the cows!

We went round and round about a name but we knew we wanted a Texas-sounding name.  Something in “Farmer language” as the kids call it.  We took a vote between Alley June and Liza Mae…double names are so sweetly southern!

It was a tie so we decided to cast lots, and the lot fell to Liza Mae as her name.

Although Todd tried to throw in a monkey wrench by tossing the name “Cowgirl” in the mix.  Caleb gave a big HECK NO to that and out the door it went.  Liza Mae stuck and here she is- Little Liza Mae!  (sporting none other than a teal blue collar)

You’ll definitely be seeing more of her on this blog!  She’s a sweet girl, and most of all the kids adore her!  I am a firm believer in giving the kids responsibilities that are fun and rewarding…but that’s another post when I’m not sick as a dog.

I’m sorry you’re so sick. How horrible having to move when you feel like poo. Glad you are all moved now and have family around to help out while you’re sick.

Liza Mae is adorable! Love the name too. It’s perfect.

Do I recall you once saying that you wanted a Weimaraner? A friend of mine here in Vancouver has a Weimaraner and a Great Dane. She also has about two acres of land, so the dogs have a lot of room to run around.

Good luck with your new pup. I hear both breeds are great family dogs, hard workers, and are easily trained.
