Common Scents
Body lotions. Bubble bath. Shower gel. Facial scrub. Candles. Air freshners.
One could not go wrong buying me any one of these products…ever! I used to be really into cucumber-ie smells. You know, it was all about that fresh clean smell- like I just got out of the shower or something. Maybe that was because I rarely took showers when I first became a mother and I wanted everyone to think I was clean.
Maybe.
I have moved beyond cleanly smells. I mean, I straight up just need some perfume. Honestly, I try really hard to atleast rinse off every single day. I’m not always successful, but generally speaking I get to splash some amount of water on my body. It’s real nice. On those off days, when the kids decide they would rather their mom look like an alien and smell like the back end of a horse, I use this wonderful product from bath and body works. It’s called Japanese Cherry Blossom.
It’s heavenly and I think I truly am able to fool everyone that enters my general vicinity into thinking I actually immersed myself in water and covered my body in suds that morning. When, in all actuality, I just slapped on some cherry blossom lotion and/or squirted some body splash from head to toe.
Thanks to my husband, I am usually well-stocked with smelly lotions and such. Wait a minute, maybe I should be offended by that? Nah, he means well!
As far as candles and air scents go, I love it all. Other than the grandma smells like rose or musk, I would burn just about any candle. I love the typical seasonal smells. Fruity and fresh smells for spring and summer, cinnamon and peppermint smells for fall and winter. My all-time favorite air fragrance is lavender. Again, from bath and body works. Their lavender candles are to. die. for. !! Check it out sometime and let me know what you think!
What’s your favorite smell?

I like seasonal smells as far as candles go. I love the original Cherry Almond Scent Lotion by Jergens. In the summer I like the Honeysuckle scent at Bath and Body Works. I am not that into air fresheners though. I also really like the smell of a just cleaned home.

I did the whole “body splash instead of shower thing” just this morning, but don’t tell anyone.
I often use that method too. I miss my daily showers.
Cherry Blossom is my favorite!

I don’t mean to be a downer but things like air fresheners and scented candles (especially air fresheners) are EXTREMELY bad for your health.
Here is one site that addresses the issue, and there are countless others.

I encourage you to read it and continue to do as much research as possible, especially if you use these products a lot. for the sake of your family.

Jessica, thank you so much for the great info! You know, I haven’t burned candles any this fall season. I have actually been doing the boiling pot of oranges and spices instead. I also just bought an aloe plant…not with the knowledge that it absorbs toxins, but still!! Yeah! I’ll definitely reconsider using air fresheners in the future!
