Timeless Calling in a Modern World
In a country where tradition is not typically considered sacred, values are constantly being questioned and the woman’s role and responsibilities are no different than the man’s, you find me; a homemaker. I stay home with my 5 children everyday…caring for their needs, teaching them what they need to succeed and survive, supporting my husband as he provides and being creative with how we live day to day. A timeless calling.
Homemaker Chronicles is dedicated to encouraging other homemakers, and even those that have only considered trying it, that we can carry out this timeless job- TOGETHER!
Homemaking is so much fun and it can actually be done in style! Since we don’t have to conform to an 8 to 5 schedule, in which you wear heels and skirts while performing the same tasks day in and day out, we have freedom. Plus, our job duties are endless and continually changing! We really don’t have to wear peter-pan collard shirts and denim jumpers to run a household. Or have plaid drapes over the windows, a brass table lamp that sits beside the hunter green couch, with pictures of covered wagons and paintings of a random mountain scape decorating our walls. Surely there are some of you out there that get tired of finding the typical baby shower decor…pink for girl (with pink booties) and blue for boy (with blue booties) and yellow for “I don’t know” (with a ducky). Is that really ALL we can come up with to throw a modern baby shower?
It seems that “homemaker” and “modern” are thought to be opposites in today’s day. I think there are ways to combine the two and be a modern STYLISH homemaker without breaking the budget and even be a trendsetter without compromising our values. However, it seems that when a family doesn’t have 2 incomes, we are forced into buying extremely cheap everything. Extremely cheap things aren’t always what’s in style (that’s why their so cheap). So, I have spent the last 5 years or so coming up with my own ways of decorating a house, cooking healthy for a large family, dressing our kids in stylish fashion, throwing parties and showers, and finding fun things to do on a small budget- WITH STYLE!
Through Homemaker Chronicles I want to turn this stereotype around that homemakers are boring and behind-the-times . I will post my ideas for you to use here, and I want to read about your ideas. Let’s take advantage of any spare time to be creative with our money, and let’s encourage one another each day!!
