Give a rip
UPDATED—–
12/5/09
I have actually cooled off a little bit since writing the below post. Evidently I was in a frenzy that night…forgive me? What I’d really live to convey, if anyone can excuse my prior irrational behavior, is that I truly feel for the Woods family. I don’t harbor anger, I am not appalled, bitter or offended. Instead of pointing fingers, as apposed to making a mockery, and against my initial response, I would actually like to take a moment to stand alongside Tiger Woods.
Not because I agree with his actions. Certainly not because I would support his decisions or behavior. But because we are all human…capable of sin…capable of adultery.
Me.
You.
Everyone.
Tiger deserves love and acceptance from me. Not judgment. After all, who am I to judge another person? Tiger’s sin is against God and his wife…not me or anyone else for cryin’ out loud! I refuse to sit here and point a finger at a man who is being blamed for sins that I myself have been guilty of in my own heart and am perfectly capable of committing again, if not for God’s merciful hand holding me back.
Besides all of that, no one knows what goes on behind closed doors at his house in Florida. (It is Florida, right?) That’s how it should be unless Tiger chooses to go public. He didn’t though. That choice was made for him, and for that I do feel sorry. Surely that just comes with the territory of being in the spotlight, but I wouldn’t wish a media massacre on anyone who is trying to live a private personal life.
In light of my confession and apology, I would like to release another “updated” statement to Tiger Woods.
Tiger, if you’re reading (and I’m sure you are ‘ole buddy) forgive me for lashing out at you earlier. My real beef is with the media for covering such a personal story and elevating it to prime-time news. However, it would be going against my conscience if I didn’t speak the truth. Tiger, let me encourage you to lay hold of what is important. Uphold your marriage because your wife is to be honored and loved. She is your gift and for you alone, and you for her alone. What an honor! Humble yourself before your wife and repent unto God.
I would leave you with this…Hebrews 13:4 “Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and the sexually impure.”.
ORIGINAL POST:
Normally I don’t give a rip about what goes on in Celebrity-ville, but this story caught my eye.
“Main players in the Tiger Woods scandal”.
In light of Tiger’s recent news…pause…in case you live in a hole like I do here’s the Newsflash; Tiger Woods is having an affair with another woman besides his super-model wife…resume…I made a list of songs that I would like for Tiger to hear. You can push play or turn up your volume if you’d like to hum along.
I have a REAL PROBLEM with adultery. Like, don’t do it people! Geeze!! I realize we live in a fallen world and sin is running rampant, but when the poster child for sports can’t keep his hands off another woman, it must be real bad!
Personally, I couldn’t give a rip what celebrities do when they aren’t entertaining me, but that sounds snobby and selfish when I write it all out here on my sweet and innocent blog. Honestly though, I would like for everyone to repent and I would like to stand up for what I believe in no matter who is listening. Especially right here on my own personal blog. In other words, I do take it personally when people sin and the media goes wild over it. As if that kind of stuff is really newsworthy. Sin? Really?
It’s not newsworthy unless you are speaking out against it. Where my peeps at?
But since I’m not an anchor for NBC, I will take this opportunity, right here right now, to let Tiger and the whole world know how I feel about his adulterous behavior. (Cause I know he’s a faithful reader of mine. wink wink)
I don’t like it.
It’s wrong.
And he oughta know.
